A week and a half of blood sweat and tears and the old girl is back on the road. I’ll make a write up of the whole ordeal later, but I need to rest now.

Suffice it to say, the Y-pipe between my intercoolers is held together on the end that goes to the throttle body with fiberglass mat and epoxy, the vacuum lines are spliced back together with rubber hose about every six inches, the rear most coil pack bolt on the passenger side is stripped, and there are three new zip ties under the hood, including one on the coil pack connector on the passenger side that froze open.

But she’s running and the only codes are for some emission control and the secondary air pump.

I’ve always said there is no shame in having a mechanic and not doing your own work on your car. Well, today I reiterate that point and say I will never open that hood and take off any more than the oil filter cover EVER AGAIN!

I know that feel. Bolts get removed and zipties replace the bolts.

Five spoke wheels are my favorite, and those are quite nice.

Nice job. I refuse to work on my car. My sanity is more valuable than money lol. I got a bit of oppo in mine on Saturday.

They aren’t awful for direct factory size match replacements, but they just don’t balance for some reason. I’m stuck with a vibration at 60 mph that I can’t get rid of.

I found some chromed factory wheels on ebay. I like them better.

You too ? Mine is more of a shimmy at 60 because one of my wheels isn't true.

As far as I know, I have what is actually refered to as “the 60 mph vibration” in the W220 encyclopedia on the Benzworld forums. They say the solution is to tighten the wheel bearings, AMGtech suggested tightening the return spring on the steering rack, or Mandrus rims are just shitty to begin with.

I need to have the front suspension looked at anyway. First thing I got done when I bought the car were inner and outer tie rods and that didn’t actually fix the massive amount of play in the steering wheel on center.

I hate chrome wheels - my SHO had them. And the Car Talk guys would suggest a bad tire. That might be it.
